Moving in the opposite direction of prevention, Brazil now has the lowest rate of vaccine coverage in 16 years, prompting the resurgence of measles and other diseases. Fake news are the main reason behind the lack of vaccination. To encourage immunization and fight misinformation, in a match against Chapecoense for the 36th round of the Brazilian Soccer Championship, Santos Futebol Clube players entered the Vila Belmiro stadium on Sunday (Dec. 1) with their jersey sleeves rolled up to show arm bandages. The initiative, run in partnership with Havas Health & You and ABCVac, aims to show that vaccines are safe enough to be taken before a soccer match or any other sports practice. Athletes also held a banner on the field with the message: "Vaccines Save. Fake News Kill".
