Global media network Al Jazeera's award-winning campaign, Our World in Perspective, highlights the broadcaster's commitment to reporting the world's breaking news from the ground, offering a global picture of events. The series of print ads, created by international agency 180 Kingsday, took home three trophies and was shortlisted for six at this year's Epica Awards. The only international creative prize judged by journalists. Connecting images from some of the most divisive and discussed events of the last year - from political protests to the refugee crisis, natural disasters and poverty - each instalment of the campaign places a focus on universal themes. By linking global stories, the collage of photographs highlights the parallels internationally. Acting as a response to the ‘post-truth’ discourse and mistrust that has steadily grown over recent years, the campaign champions pluralism. Challenging us as viewers and news consumers to assess a more comprehensive story and broaden our field of vision with objective journalism. The series of print advertisements each tackle a different topic - although all are unified in style. Negative space surrounds four images, each portraying a different part of a global story. By placing an image of migrants from the US-Mexico border, next to images of refugees walking through Macedonia, Tunisia and Spain, profound parallels are drawn. As the images evolve, the line of people decreases, suggestive of the dangers faced. Placed side by side, the photographs tell a much bigger international story.
