Autism Talent: Look At Me
In growing up, one of the very first things we learn about respect is paying attention to the people who are talking. And the most common expression of attention? Eye contact. But with over 300,000 Malaysians on the autism spectrum, the lack of ability to focus makes eye contact a mountain of a task.
And as autism is primarily a non-visual disability, people mistake the lack of eye contact for a lack of respect, leading to impatience and discrimination. Through a simple film, we wanted to create awareness on the most common yet unknown symptom of autism while reminding people to be patient and encouraging rather than impatient and discriminating. Because while people with autism may not look at you when you’re talking, that doesn’t mean they’re not listening.
