Popular vegetable juice V-8 has been around for years, and while the flavors and varieties may have evolved, the message that you “could’ve had a V-8” is still as relevant as ever. V-8 has returned to Backyard director Kevin Smith who has contributed several years of inspiring and witty ways of convincing people to get their daily serving of vegetables. In a recent notable recalled four-spot campaign the simplicity of reaching for a bottle of V-8 as an alternative to scrimping on nutrition is obvious and, even more importantly, humorous. In a highlight from this Backyard campaign, called “Salad Bar,” a husband piles his plate with every cold buffet item not belonging to the veggie group, inviting a tough-love gesture from his wife. He could’ve avoided the bop—he should’ve had a V-8.
