United Nations: The Penguin & The Whale
This year marks the beginning of the Decade of Action for the delivery of the SDGs. As today’s youth represent a generation of global leaders in 2030, the UN joined hands with Tencent and co-hosted the Chinese Youth Dialogue campaign to highlight the 17 SDGs. Issues such as global warming and marine pollution now become impending challenges on our global agenda. The campaign kicked off with an animated short on WeChat among its 1 billion users, featuring a sweet friendship between Penguin and Whale, who are heading towards the last piece of iceberg on the blue planet, with no idea that the world is disappearing. The campaign enjoyed 41.5 million click-throughs thanks to this cute animated story of hope and friendship, and its lovely catchy BGM, Never Stop. The film went viral with an additional 10 million exposures, and saw some 3 million youth participants join Youth Dialogue. But in the end Penguin and Whale never see a real iceberg.
