BT Sport will premiere Bosman The Player Who Changed Football, the next documentary from its award-winning BT Sport Films series, on BT Sport 1 HD on Wednesday December 9th at 10.15pm. A ‘Bosman’ is used commonly in the lexicon of modern football, but do current players and fans really know the story of how the Bosman rule came about, and the human tragedy that unfolded along with it? Presented by former French international David Ginola, Bosman - The Player Who Changed Football will examine how a Belgian player took on European football’s governing bodies, changed world football, and in doing so, ruined his own career. The documentary, which marks the 25th Anniversary of the ruling, will tell Bosman’s turbulent personal tale, its profound effect on modern football and how it continues to shape the game today. Featuring interviews with Jean-Marc and those closest to him, together with agents, managers and players including Steve McManaman, Rio Ferdinand, Eni Aluko, Glenn Hoddle, Sam Allardyce, Paul Lambert and Robin van Persie. Bosman - The Player Who Changed Football will take viewers on a fascinating journey, from Jean-Marc’s humble beginnings in Liege through to playing for one of Belgium’s biggest clubs and how the eventual ruling almost destroyed him.
