On World Press Freedom Day, ONFR+ blocked every single article on their own news site with a Digital Prison Wall – demonstrating how foreign governments hold their own news captive. Instead of serving a paywall demanding money, the Digital Prison Wall asked readers to share the plight of jailed journalists.
For 24 hours, every reader was confronted by the same Digital Prison Wall. To lift the wall, and access an article, Canadians had to share it on social media. Every time an ONFR+ article was posted, a new reader was barred, resulting in a chain of Digital Prison Walls.
