The figures of gender violence in Mexico have increased alarmingly in the last two years. According to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), 10 women are murdered in Mexico every day, and according to figures from the National Citizen Observatory of Femicide, 357 women have been reported missing in the country so far this year. 2022. In addition to the disturbing figures on femicides and disappearances, there are other acts of violence that impact women and for which we all have responsibility as individuals: from issuing or witnessing a misogynistic comment at work, an acquaintance raising his voice to his partner, a man harassing a woman in a public place, an insult or any act of inequality, gender violence affects us all. For all these reasons, 'El Jabón que Mancha' has been created, an initiative that seeks to make society aware of everyone's responsibility in the face of these acts of violence, because every time any kind of offense or degradation is tolerated against a woman and it is not adequately visible (without measuring the damage caused or the consequences), as a society we are washing our hands. This soap is a symbol that evidences the impunity towards gender violence and is born from the indifference and normalization of an issue that historically affects women in Mexico and the world. "Wash our hands" in the face of any act of violence against women, whether psychological, physical, sexual or economic, leaves indelible marks on the lives of the victims and is a problem that involves the entire society.
