Australian's love of football has a shameful dark side, where hate is on display. In a culture where passion is strong, and emotions run high - unacceptable acts of aggression are happening every weekend. Blatant, unwarranted hostility aimed at umpires is causing distress in WA communities. This needs to stop. To draw attention to the problem and highlight the bleak reality behind the abuse - this campaign exposes the kind of personal issues people are inadvertently revealing when abusing. Because by hurling insults so publicly, the abusers are saying much more about themselves than the umpire.
