What three words come to mind when you think of the word "temple"? Ours were renewal, freedom, and energy. To us, The Temple is a place set outside the real world. A place where what you see and hear transcends the norm, leaving endless possibilities of what may be. Where the known and the unknown are given the opportunity to meet. With such an inspiring scope for interpretation, we came together with Superunion & Le Polish Bureau to create an immersive virtual experience that celebrates Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li, an iconic hospitality and retail destination located in Chengdu-welcome to The Temple. The Temple is more than a virtual world, it’s an immersive digital experience, a spiritual abode for the arts inspired by an ancient Daci temple, the epicentre of Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li. It consists of three unique rooms: the House of Light, the Blossom Garden, and the Infinity Tower. The haiku for each room is reflected within distinctly harmonised musical soundscapes that leverage surrealism, and are inspired by the visual tone set by each space. We teamed up with Superunion to work on the music and sound design for The Temple aiming to showcase the contemporary experiences of Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li and honour their cultural heritage. Being involved in this project was extremely rewarding because we had the opportunity to express ourselves without any form factor constraints. For instance, in the Infinity Tower, there are five singing bowls that users can interact with by mixing and matching the tones to create their own musical bed. More so, this collaboration encouraged us step out of our comfort zone, think outside the box, and grow.
