Opera GX, the browser built for gamers, announced today the launch of GX Mods: A new feature which allows users to customize their browsers like never before, from the look and feel, to the sounds, to live filters called Shaders. And to get the word out to the gamersphere, the brand's teaming up with the king of customization himself: Mr. X to the Z, Xzibit. The rapper, known worldwide for hosting MTV's "Pimp My Ride" in the 2000's, is the face of the launch campaign for GX Mods, appearing in a series of online spots to promote the browser's newest feature.
Agency: Officer&Gentleman, Madrid In the hero ad, he joins a GX technical expert named Nate, to help show users how they can “pimp their motherf***ing browsers”. With GX Mods, Opera GX takes customization to the next level. Besides being able to choose from dozens of pre-configured Mods inspired by their favorite genres – like Cyberdeck, Anime, Lo-Fi Chill or Blockified – users also create their own and upload them for others to use. The Mods themselves include animated wallpapers, unique colorways, surprising keyboard and UX sounds, background music and shaders. Audio is also a big part of how Opera GX is changing the game. Not only do Mods include new background tracks that evolve as you interact with the browser, but users can select from different sound packs. And with names like Fartpack, Meow, Morse Code or Grand Piano, well, you can imagine what kinds of sounds your browser will make as you type, scroll and click your way across the web. Users can even customize how they see everything online with the addition of Shaders: A series of live filters that can make your screen appear shattered or out of focus, give it the aspect of a vintage camera or retro TV screen, make it rain and snow, and a whole lot more.
