Hyundai celebrates its long-standing relationship with the FIFA Women’s World CupTM with a new global sponsorship campaign that highlights the 130-year history of women’s football with the statement “See how far we’ve come, watch how far we’ll go”. The main feature of the campaign is a landmark film that follows a young female protagonist playing high-intensity football through significant moments in women's football history, challenging the viewer to see how far women’s football has come, and to watch how far it will go. The campaign reflects the next chapter of Hyundai’s global brand and football sponsorship platform “Goal of the Century” that was introduced last year on Earth Day, ahead of the FIFA World CupTM 2022. The film introduces the birth of women’s football in Victorian England, to the very first women’s match in London in 1895, then jumping to 1918 to see Swansea National Shell Factory’s all female football team playing against an all-male team. The film then dramatically highlights a dark period in sporting history, when the British government made it illegal for women to play football for over 50 years and those who defied the law. Continuing to 1971, where the film dramatises the heroine playing in the first recognised FIFA women’s international match between France and the Netherlands, marking a significant milestone in women's football.
