REMEMBER
The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) remembers those we lost to Covid-19 Background: Early in 2020, Covid began to ravage New York City. It remains one of the hardest hit areas in the United States. In total, Covid has claimed the lives of over 45,000 New Yorkers, many of whom were photographers and creative professionals. This horrific event forever changed the city as we know it. Idea: To help the city remember and forever honor those we lost to Covid-19, ASMP created a campaign featuring striking imagery captured during the height of the pandemic. Through these unique photographs, it’s possible to not only see the scars left behind by Covid-19, but also the strength of the city that survived. A corresponding exhibit was held, encouraging ASMP members to submit their own photos taken during the pandemic, highlighting the emptiness of the city in trauma.
