Barkov City: Welcome to Barkov City
On Wednesday, August 31, 2024, Tampere, Finland was transformed into "Barkov City" as Aleksander Barkov celebrated the Florida Panthers' historic Stanley Cup victory with his hometown. Barkov, who became the first Finnish-born NHL captain to win the Stanley Cup, spent the day with the trophy, marking the occasion with various events throughout the city. The celebration culminated in a ceremony at Nokia Arena, where 15,000 fans gathered to honor him. The "Barkov City" campaign was visible across Tampere, in the media, during the Nokia Arena event, and in the YLE Areena broadcast.
