Thai Health Promotion Foundation: Lamduan
The Thai Health Promotion Foundation aims to promote the importance of free play for children’s development, as many Thai parents are overly controlling and strict, often dictating their children's play activities. This lack of understanding about the importance of free play can negatively impact a child's development, leading to issues like learning loss.
To tackle this issue, Leo Burnett Thailand and Mum Films have created a thought-provoking short film, “Lamduan” , for the Thai Health Promotion Foundation. The film illustrates the negative effects of overly controlling parenting on children's behavior and creativity. The story features a couple who observe their child acting like a robot, following commands without creativity and showing no fun or vitality. As the parents reflect on their actions—constantly instructing their child on what not to do—they begin to understand how these limitations have stifled their child's ability to explore and develop. The film ends on a hopeful note, with the parents agreeing to give their child the freedom to play as they watch their little one embark on imaginative adventures. It demonstrates that allowing children the freedom to think, solve problems, and make decisions fosters their creativity, resilience, and self-confidence, leaving the audience with a powerful reminder of the importance of free play.
