Australia is officially no.1 in the world for skin cancer. 2 out of 3 Australians will be treated for skin cancer in their lifetime. Pretty grim.
We live on a giant desert island under a big hole in the ozone layer. Not only that, the Earth’s elliptical orbit sticks us physically closer to the sun in summer, increasing the amount of solar UV radiation that hits us. We’re like ants under a magnifying glass down here.
And despite all of this, fewer than 3 in 10 Aussies use sunscreen regularly, and when it comes to guys, it drops to 1 in 5.
