Shopnodhora Assets Development Ltd: Shopnodhora Plot Farming

Bangladesh, a rapidly urbanizing small agrarian nation with one of the lowest per capita land availabilities in the world, witnesses fertile lands being purchased by real estate companies.
These lands, bought as investments, lie unutilized for decades.
The land shrinkage pushes millions of underprivileged, landless farmers towards cities in search of uncertain opportunities.
Shopnodhora, one of Bangladesh’s most progressive real estate companies, decided to pair unused lands with landless farmers through:
Plot Farming- An initiative that turns empty housing plots into farmlands.
How did we do it? First, we obtained plot owner permission, entered an agreement with landless farmers, supervised the work, and after harvest - equally shared the produce
To scale up, we wrote to our competitors to adopt Plot Farming, and saw several replicating the initiative, one that can be implemented across the world, wherever fertile housing plots lay unused.
Plot Farming represents a step towards a sustainable future, where unused lands feed our nation through long-term urban agriculture, fixed employment generation, and contribute to build a stronger, more self-reliant economy.
