Melbourne-based creative technology company Boffswana has completed work on the Honda Interactive Dream Wall on display at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney this week. To extend Honda’s brand position, The Power of Dreams, the 'Dream Wall' is an experience that combines design with cutting edge facial recognition and emotion sensing technology to launch a series of animated 'dream' sequences, powered by a person’s smile.
Motor show attendees are greeted by an animated hummingbird, who detects their position and encourages them to smile. They are then lead through an interactive animation experience called 'generating their own dreams'. This experience is played out on an enormous wall measuring 2.1 meters high and 5.5 meters wide, built from 24, 42-inch plasma screens. This is the first interactive experience of its kind in Australia. The installation features six cameras concealed along the front of the screens which track and detect motor show attendees as they walk past. The detection data is used by the software to calculate what it sees and determines the details of attendees, such as gender, age, and emotions such as happy, sad, etc. Based on this data the application delivers different generation of dreams journeys to attendees in the form of motion graphic animations. Check out the case study.
