Los Angeles based Weird Pictures finishes a full CGI case study with Director Martin Weisz. The project showcases the conceptual and effects skills from the company and Martin Weisz. It is based on research that Martin did for a film project and then evolved into a full spec ad. The complete project was realized in just 4 weeks.
Based on a 3D environment test that Martin Weisz did for a feature film project he is developing, he was inspired to create the ad. The purity and abstract form of single car elements create a visual stunning piece of art. Simple car parts are taken out of their normal context and rearranged in a sculptural form. At first the audience experiences these sculptures as a pure art installation and only after a couple of scenes they start to recognize these art objects as common car pieces. With the progression of the spot the elements become more and more common car parts, like tires, shocks and a windshield, but the audience has yet to discover the brand behind. Only in the last of all sculptures the spot reveals the true brand identity, making the connection from a car to "A Piece Of Art". Martin Weisz is an award winning director, who has worked successfully in the commercial, film and music video industry. He is well known for his numerous award winning videos and his very successful Farmers campaign. After his widely recognized controversial feature film debut "Grimm Love" he directed the commercially successful "The Hills Have Eyes 2" for Fox. He is currently attached to 3 new film projects, starting the first film early next year. He founded Weird Pictures with his wife and producer Cordula Weisz in 2001 and has created numerous video and commercial campaigns with it. Weird Pictures also started to develop and produce feature films and is currently working on two films to be finished in the next 2 years.
