The concept was created by McCann Erickson Malaysia for Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia to announce the arrival of the new Pajero Sport VGT SUV, a higher-powered version of their existing Pajero Sport seven-seat SUV. The new Pajero Sport VGT also features a 2-DIN Kenwood touch screen head unit with GPS, cruise control and paddleshift control.
The idea was to demonstrate driving excitement while creating drama and surprise as we follow the husband on his "shopping trip". We wanted the spot to feel like an action movie trailer, taking the viewer along for the ride. It was also important to reveal the guy was actually getting groceries for his family in an unexpected way. The film needed some miss direction in the beginning so the viewer didn't work out the shopping idea too early. We shot the commercial over two days in and around Kuala Lumpur, on 16mm film.
