Perth Zoo: The Worlds Biggest Show of Hands
The World's Biggest Show of Hands.
The Brand Agency and Perth Zoo has created an experiential campaign to help save the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan from extinction. It's estimated that there are as few as 6300 left in the wild today. In just over two weeks, Semeru will become the world's first zoo born male orangutan to be released back into the wild, in a protected rainforest in Sumatra. To coincide this the agency has created 'The World's Biggest Show of Hands' to help in the fight for their survival. Social media, radio, print and posters direct people to a dedicated website, www.theirhands.com.au where visitors can have their palm and future read, contrasting it with those of the Orangutan. These can then be digitally uploaded so they can added to the thousands of real handprints that make up a giant mural being created live at the zoo. In another first, audio hotspots at the zoo's orangutan enclosure allow the orangutans to tell of their plight directly to individual visitors telling them how they can help.
