Savanna, ‘the official drink of funny’, is also the official sponsor of the 2nd Annual South African Comic’s Choice Awards. Quirk was briefed to come up with a digital campaign for Savanna to create awareness of their relationship to the awards.
Quirk wanted to give viewers the chance to ‘kill the comedian’ if their jokes suck and so the ‘Dead Funny’ campaign was conceptualised. We filmed a series of well-known stand up comedians and, depending on whether their performance is “Liked” or “Lame”, created alternative, surprising and humorous responses – literally killing them off. These interactive YouTube video’s form part of a wider integrated digital campaign including social channels, rich media display advertising and email.”
