Texas Department of Transportation: Faces of Drunk Driving Campaign

Top 6: July 25th 2012
The Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) 'Faces of Drunk Driving' campaign was a statewide initiative created by Sherry Matthews Advocacy Marketing that garnered national and international attention with the story of Jacqui Saburido, the young woman whose face was burned beyond recognition after being hit by a drunk driver.

The refreshed campaign highlights Sean Carter who suffered a massive brain injury when a car in which he was riding spun out of control and slammed into a tree. Both Sean and the driver were legally drunk.

Sean was a 22-year-old college junior, out having drinks with friends. Sean knew he was in no condition to drive home, but neither was the friend who gave him a ride. The driver walked away from the same crash that left Sean in a wheelchair and unable to talk. Sean now uses a computer to speak.
