Socialab is a digital marketing agency in Athens, Greece that stopped sending Christmas Cards because they felt so old-fashioned! So, for 2014, Socialab created a micro-site where clients, colleagues and pretty much about everyone can create their own New Year's Resolution... with a twist!
With more than 50 resolutions to choose from, marketers can promise for 2014 to "focus less on Likes and more on Friends, especially Facebook friends" or "stop using the word engagement unless they are ready to propose with a diamond ring in their pocket". For those who visit the website and are not marketers, the list of available resolutions is endless, focusing more on their personal lives. Visitors can promise to "stop texting their ex; start texting their ex's friends" or "start seeing the glass half-full, especially if there's a barman nearby to refill it". The Resolutions were an instant hit. Socialab staff started posting their own resolutions on Facebook and soon more and more people joined in on the fun. With no paid media whatsoever, and with Word of Mouth alone the site grew to more than 1,300 users who posted some 3,000 resolutions within the first two days. And most of all, about half of the users are Socialab's audience: brand and marketing managers living in Greece.
