Print and in-restaurant campaign, tagged “Happy Legalization,” welcomes Colorado’s legalization of marijuana. Of the three print ads, one (“Pairing menu”) doubles as an in-restaurant hand-out menu, and another (“Effective January 1”) doubles as both a table tent and as an in-restaurant poster.
“Pairing menu” (grouped not by reds and whites and rosés but by Indicas, Sativas and Blends) suggests appropriate Hapa dishes for various strains of pot. Spicy, Hawaiian style Pakalolo Shrimp, for example, is an ideal accompaniment to a Pakistani Kush Indica. Diners who have sampled a Blue Dream Sativa might want to try the Japanese Chicken Katsu Curry. “Ergonomically designed” touts the chain’s pot-friendly, paranoia-reducing ambience. And “Effective January 1” describes the kind of dinner conversation that will now be deemed suitable to the venue. Diners may freely discuss “how cool their pets are and that fish would make cool pets but you would have to live in the ocean to hang out with them and this weed is really good and do you think pets like us as much as...” (it goes on).
