Subaru WRX STI: The Making Of "WRX STI vs. StickBomb"
Subaru's two-minute "WRX STI vs. StickBomb" spot is a visual feast for racing buffs. The ad took a long time to create and the car used was a one-off model created via 3-D printer just for the commercial. The car races a StickBomb - flat wooden sticks are woven together under tension, which then fly apart like dominos when one is removed. Filming took place in a studio in Japan over 3 days and nights, with almost no rest in between. Some 30,000 StickBombs were brought in for filming. Each time the stick pattern was triggered, it was constructed over again.
