In October, World Wildlife Fund joined the Explorer program through our Giving through Glass program (more info on that here). Tomorrow we're sharing a video and blog post about how Glass can help improve the efficiency of conservation in the field. As you know, conservation can be a slow, methodical process in an environment that's not exactly ideal for research. The forest is too dense for jeeps and the presence of tigers makes walking dangerous, so researchers often hitch rides on tamed elephants and gather health and habitat threat data using pencil and paper. Now, with custom-built Glassware called Field Notes, it’s possible for WWF to do their conservation work hands-free — helpful for both accuracy and safety in the field. You can check out the embargoed video here. Also, we're so inspired by WWF that we're opening up a challenge for all U.S. based nonprofits that have an idea for how to amplify their impact with Glass. Five US-based nonprofits will get a pair of Glass, a trip to a Google office for training, a $25,000 grant, and access to developers to make their Glass project a reality. If you’d like, we’d be happy to line up interviews with World Wildlife Fund's senior researcher and Glass, as well as Google.org executives.Agency: Anomaly, New York
