JWT, Sao Paulo: The Business Road TripTop 6: June 18th 2014
Three riders left Sao Paulo, Brazil with a mission: to travel 3500 km in 12 days through Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina riding old Vespas and only using products made by clients of JWT. And obviously, they would document absolutely everything. One of the bikers was Hernán Rebaldería, creative director at JWT Brazil. He managed to transform an institutional briefing into this mix between road trip and business trip. The agency clients who accompanied our journey soon proved themselves indispensable. Starting with Shell petrol and oil, the trusty Tramontina toolkit in case we needed to make any running repairs. Under their riding gear our t-shirts, boxers and socks were all from Pernambucanas (Famous department store in Brazil). Along with the sheets, pillows and microfiber blankets that they used for camping. Breakfast with Pilao Coffee and bread with Philadelphia. At the side of the road we ate canned tuna salad and patê from Gomes da Costa. They drank Coca-Cola, Nescau ( Nestle’s malted chocolate) and Nutren. They had a break and a Kit Kat in Iguazu Falls. And they tucked into Nestlé chocolates at various stages of the trip. They made a BBQ on the shore of a lake using cutlery and other products by Tramontina. Posts, photos and route planning were all done with a Windows Phone from Microsoft. The support car (with director and producer aboard) was a Ford Focus and the tyres, Bridgestone. They were showered and stayed handsome with Avon products and washed our clothes with Brilhante (soup from Unilever) . Made mate with a Kenwood kettle. And thanks to Drogasil/Droga Raia (drugstore) as clients, even had the world’s most extensive first aid kit, with products from Needs and other agency clients: Bayer (Redoxon, Supradyn, Bepantol) Johnson & Johnson (Tylenol, Benalet, Listerine) and Kimberly Clark.
The three men were sure of before they left was that the journey wasn’t going to turn into a ‘Survivor-style’ reality show.By using products provided by agency clients they are able to show that JWT has a sufficiently diverse and extensive client portfolio to cover all the necessities of a normal day, or even the type of seriously abnormal days we experienced during their journey.
