Anne Fleming: funda.ie: The Dublin Coastal development.

Embed Video
A hoax-style campaign created to cause a stir in Dublin at a time when the property market was booming and the Celtic Tiger was in full effect. An online video promoted a new property website launching for the first time in Ireland, called Funda. The video caused outrage amongst locals and even a protest group formed to stop the hoax development, which consisted of a giant shamrock-shaped island in the middle of Dublin Bay. At the time, ridiculous man-made islands like The Palm and The World in Dubai were frequently in the news, adding to the believability of the hoax. The viral won a silver ICAD and the fake planning application notices also won silver in the ambient media category.
