Air becomes the medium in this innovative art + engineering exhibit for Lennox, a leading manufacturer of residential cooling, heating and indoor air quality products.

Titled "Degrees of Perfect," this first-of-its-kind exhibit features five unique murals, painted by five well-known street artists: Bacon, Dodo Ose, 123Klan, Slick and Zek One. The artists used thermochromic paint, designed to react to changing temperatures. When heated air from Lennox systems is applied to the murals, the thermochromic paint layer becomes colorless, revealing the base coat underneath, which provides a second layer for the artists to express themselves in a two-part visual story. When introduced to cool temperature, the color returns.

The concept was created by lead creative consultant GSD&M and was curated and produced by A'shop Crew, an artist-run production company based out of Montreal, Canada, that is recognized as one of North America's leading muralist teams.

How it Worked:

--Each artist was briefed on their respective theme/Lennox pillar: clean air, solar power, intelligence, quiet systems and balance. From there, the artists set out on their own to interpret the theme, create an idea and design a two-part visual story using their individual style and inspiration.

--Lennox engineers worked together with the artists to design five custom, 8' x 20' walls that could be heated and cooled with absolute precision. These became the artists' canvases. When the walls are introduced to a hot or cold temperature, their unique thermochromic paint changes color, revealing one of two graphics.

A continuation of the "What Perfect Feels Like" campaign, this new effort demonstrates how Lennox is not just innovative in how they create the perfect system, but also in how they show it.

The exhibition takes place on Friday, June 24 at The Container Yard, one of the most unique and exciting urban renewal projects in LA. It's home to 60,000 square feet of untouched raw space with art by world-renowned artists.
