This is the controversial spot released by the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign tying Donald Trump to the KKK. The KKK is a racist group that in its heyday attempted to block black civil rights in the segregationist south. In modern times it is a relative fringe group, with little membership or clout. However, in putting out this ad, the Clinton campaign cleverly attempted to portray Trump as a racist, even though he himself has criticized the KKK and an people like that. Critics contend that actually it is the Democratic party and Hillary Clinton with historic ties to this group, so it is ironic that Clinton attempted to tie Trump to them. They argue that Hillary Clinton's mentor was Robert Byrd, himself a founding Grand Dragon of the KKK.
