Since 1989 over 10,000 cases of enforced disappearances have been reported in Kashmir. Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) commissioned a campaign to keep the memories of loss alive that are systematically being erased by the state apparatus. The state is not only denying the truth and justice to the victims but also ensures immunity, against prosecution, to perpetrators of such heinous war crimes through its various draconian legislations. This campaign, comprising sketches of the enforced disappearance victims meticulously created from the text of individual case studies, brings their memories back to life. #DisappearedKashmirs campaign has garnered over 28 million impressions on Twitter generating a tremendous response for the cause.
