Johannesburg Zoo: Johannesburg Zoo Conservation 'Bat'Top 6: May 24th 2017
This year, Johannesburg Zoo wanted to shift the conservation lens away from the plight of individual animals, and to the balance of the ecosystem as a broader playing field. Y&R South Africa created a series of posters that highlighted the often-forgotten ‘other side’ of the conservation conversation and provided a fresh take on the stereotypical'Big 5' initiatives. The print executions demonstrated graphically and metaphorically that when you remove one species (like a Blue Crane), it's eco-balance counterpart (like flies), will thrive and multiply uncontrollably. The designs struck a very visceral chord with the viewers and shone the light on on-going efforts at the Johannesburg Zoo when it comes to conservation and research.
