Mother's latest campaign from Discovery channel - promoting their new series on London Ink.
The tattoos on the sculptures have been designed by Louis Malloy, the star of the show. He is the Beckham’s tattooist.
They are also giving away three different tattoos in the Observer on Sunday 23 September. They were each designed by the three other stars of the show: Dan Gold, Phil Kyle and Nikole Lowe.
All of the tattoos are based on combining classic tattoo iconography with London imagery and are based around the idea ‘London’s Getting Ink.’
Mother will be ‘clean stencilling’ city sidewalks next week while the sculptures are up. So the city itself will be getting tattooed.
The swimmer is 35-feet long and will be in Potter’s Field at Tower Bridge from Sept 18-23 and will then be moved to Greenwich Park. His tattoo is a classic Japanese Carp shown on a bed of chips and newspaper with a Japanese wave-style splash of vinegar on top.
The girl is 18-feet long and will be sticking her head into a normal-sized photo booth. She will be in Victoria Station for two weeks starting Sept 20. Her tattoo is a ‘glorious pigeon,’ which is a stylized pigeon done up like a classic ‘war eagle’ tattoo, complete with tattered feathers and a gimpy foot.
