Advertising agency barrettSF has launched a new campaign for Zappos.com, the online shoe and clothing retailer. Promoting “Drama-free customer service 24/7,” the campaign touts Zappos’s unique and unrivaled customer care.
The agency enlisted the help of Comedy Bang! Bang! director Ben Berman to create four television spots, showing customers engaged in easy interactions with Zappos, and then saving their drama for other things in life. In this case, bizarre scenarios involving anything from an overworked comma to an 18th century prima donna. “Usually, we all dread having to return something or getting on the phone with a customer rep,” says creative director Aryan Aminzadeh. “But with Zappos, it’s always easy and drama-free. So, we basically took the ‘save the drama for your mama’ joke and went a little crazy with it.” As odd and quirky as the spots are, they’re right in line with the Zappos brand. “Zappos is a customer service company that just happens to sell shoes, clothing, and more. We feel like this helps highlight the reason why we care about that focus so much: Our customers,” said Joe Grusman, Zappos Senior Marketing Director. “Our team at barrettSF really embraced the Zappos Core Value of creating fun and a little weirdness, to illustrate why free shipping, returns, and 24/7 customer service are so important.” The spots started airing on August 21st in Portland. They’ll be complemented with an out-of-home campaign and radio commercial.
