Currently, there are around half a million unowned cats in Victoria, breeding more and more kittens into a life of disease and neglect. Research has indicated that one reason for this problem is that less value is placed on the lives of cats and as a result they are less likely to be responsibly owned, compared to dogs. Additionally, the research also indicated that people were unknowingly exacerbating the problem by feeding stray cats, thus enabling them to reproduce and further increase the unowned cat population. Based on these insights, the campaign asks 'Who's for cats?', by getting people to question their actions towards unowned cats. The campaign asks people to stop just feeding stray cats, and either take full ownership of an unowned cat, or to call their local council to have it collected.
