With a passion for powerful storytelling, Marc Furmie began
developing his filmmaking abilities as soon as he was old enough to hold a
camera. Marc studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW in addition to
studying acting through the Meisner Technique.
In 03’ he undertook
a mentorship with Lucasfilm producer Tippy Bushkin that included a 3-month
screenwriting stint at Skywalker Ranch. As a prolific writer, illustrator
and director of actors, his strength has always been balancing strong
characterization with a cinematic aesthetic.
Currently he is in talks with Universal Pictures to develop a
feature film based on his award winning short “Death’s Requiem”. Marc’s work
covers a wide spectrum of commercials, music videos & branded content
including a short film for the NSW Asthma Foundation & Volvo.
His controversial
spot for Amnesty International entitled “Scratch” earned a nomination for a
Young Directors Award at Cannes while his emotional spot for St. Vincent De
Paul received a nominee for Best Direction at this years Spike Awards in
Bali.
