Social Campaign: Piss on the LawTop 6: May 28th 2025
Piss on the Law is a protest against the UK Supreme Court ruling:
"Under the Equality Act 2010, 'woman' and 'sex' mean biological woman and biological sex." This leaves trans women outside the legal definition of “woman.” It legitimizes their exclusion from female spaces and opens the door to discrimination. The action is based on an idea as simple as it is powerful: if trans women aren’t allowed into bathrooms, then we’ll go to the bathrooms and piss on the law. Literally. From the neighborhood of Chueca — the epicenter of LGTBIQ+ life in Madrid — we are going bar to bar, venue to venue, pasting printed copies of the British court ruling onto toilet stalls, inviting anyone who enters to symbolically urinate on the law. The intervention extends to social media, where we invite people to share photos of the stickers in bathrooms to amplify the message and spark international awareness. This leaves trans women outside the legal definition of "woman." It legitimizes their exclusion from female spaces and opens the door to discrimination.
