Bob Evans launches its new entrée choice “Broasted Chicken” with a :70 online video that plays off the expensive and specialized equipment (combining a pressure cooker and a deep fryer) needed to “Broast.” It seems like Bob Evans will be giving away the recipe when company top chef David Eisel introduces an ostensible cooking show: “This is really exciting. Today we’re going to learn how to make the crispiest, juiciest chicken you’ve ever had.” In that those steps include a bank loan, home renovation, boot camp, overnight marinating and split-second cook times, it may come as a relief when the video ends, “or, you could always pick some up at your nearest Bob Evans.” (The “Broasting” equipment is licensed exclusively to Bob Evans in its markets.) Home meal preparers are the launch campaign’s target. The video appears initially as content on FoodNetwork.com .
