Created in collaboration with artist Sam Spratt, renowned for working on high profile artwork for Chidish Gambio, Def Jam, Universal, Warner, EMI and Login album cover, this modern take on renaissance painting captures 60 years of the creatives and campaigns that have shaped advertising history, bringing them together in one masterpiece in celebration of the 60thanniversary of the Clio awards.
Clio worked closely with BBDO Los Angeles to honor some of the iconic men, women and ideas from the past 60 years that have defined this advertising era by canonizing them in a work of art as grand as their contributions to our industry.
With a larger-than-life Clio at the center, the image is an homage to the pioneers (Lee Clow), trailblazers (Mary Wells Lawrence) and modern mavens (David Droga) whose strokes of genius are imprinted on our shared history.
The image also invites viewers to fall in love with advertising all over again, with a look at the most beloved characters that have shaped our popular culture-- from the Kool-Aid Man to The Bud Knight and beyond.
