The Czech car manufacturer Škoda wants to inform car drivers about its growing offering of electric vehicles by ”hijacking” its competitors in its latest campaign ”Tiny Billboards”. By placing miniature out-of-home billboards in parking lots in urban areas, Škoda wants to reach drivers of competing car brands through the rear view camera and the infotainment display inside the cars. The agency Nord DDB has created the campaign. A large part of all traffic in urban areas is attributed as a result of drivers looking for somewhere to park their car. Therefore Škoda has placed miniature out-of-home advertisements in parking lots in a few urban areas in Sweden, and the small billboards are clearly visible through the cars' rear view cameras and infotainment screens inside the passenger compartment. Through the Tiny Billboards campaign, Škoda aims to, in a subtle and humorous way, reach the customers of competing car brands at a moment when they most often have their eyes on the screen – when they park their car. The small billboards were created together with the Swedish miniature artist Christopher Robin Nordström, also known as @TokyoBuild on Instagram with over 100 000 followers across the globe. The tiny out-of-home advertisements are designed with great precision and detail, and they contain everything from spotlights and ladders to graffiti. The Tiny Billboards campaign runs before Christmas with mini-OOH billboards placed in car parks in a few selected metropolitan areas in Sweden.
