The new Intermarché directional billboards in Portugal, point the way to the only supermarket that has a privileged relationship with the region where it is located. Using the competition as reference points also doubles as a reminder that they are not as local as Intermarché. Either because the owners (franchisees) are from the region and know each of the local suppliers well, or because the region itself has already adopted Intermarché as its supermarket, the one that has always served them, even before the competition arrived. Intermarché is the only supermarket that can say it is “The Local Supermarket”, wherever it is.
