Veolia: Pulse of NatureTop 6: October 11th 2023
In a ground breaking approach to ecological transformation, global leader Veolia has teamed up with FamousGrey to let nature itself determine which environmental problems should be tackled first in Belgium. By closely monitoring real-time data on air quality, water pollution, and soil health across the country, Veolia aims to identify the most pressing issues and efficiently allocate resources for sustainable solutions. This innovative strategy highlights the company's commitment to working in harmony with the environment and addressing the challenges of climate change head-on. FamousGrey was able to realise this project thanks to open source data made available by various government agencies. Combining these data on one platform finally allows an overall overview of the health of Belgium's nature and its changes, as well as raising awareness about local issues. Not only did the agency succeed in visualising data on nature on a map, they also developed an algorithm that compares their variations with those of the past five years. This resulted in a list of 10 ecological challenges. A programmed message is automatically generated for each challenge. Each message links a specific challenge to a Veolia solution capable of meeting it. Finally, thanks to a network of digital displays, each message is broadcast directly in the area where the challenge is identified. This way, nature invites local companies and authorities directly to act and transform ecologically thanks to Veolia's solutions.
