Australia is preparing to go to the polls to vote in a referendum on whether our indigenous peoples should be granted a say in political matters concerning them: a Voice to Parliament. This is a highly contentious issue and the vitriol from both the "Yes" and the "No" camps has been considerable. Frustrated by the lack of respectful, informed debate taking place and by the role that both camps' advertising has played in increasing confusion and conflict, we decided to take matters into our own hands.
Agency: The Hallway We created a film to encourage Australians to have a better conversation about the Voice to Parliament. The two minute animation features an emu and a kangaroo talking through the pros and cons of adding The Voice amendment to the Australian Constitution, while in the trees above them “Yes” and “No” backing galahs screech insults at each other. Distributed via social media, It has attracted the attention of the Australian media and been widely featured on national news platforms including Sky News, news.com.au and The Australian.
