Cities around the world are using titanium dioxide coatings for their ability to absorb pollution from the air. These coatings are usually put on roads and buildings – but on their mission to show how Electric Feels Good, Volkswagen Canada found a new way to use them. Volkswagen Canada, in collaboration with the TYPE1/TAXI team, has introduced a remarkable solution to combat air pollution in an unexpected place – their all-electric ID.4 car cover. It does more than just protect the vehicle. It actively absorbs airborne pollution. So how does it work? When activated by daylight, the coating absorbs pollutants from the surrounding environment, which are then broken down into inert organic compounds like water and other basic elements. Made in partnership with nanotechnology company FN Nano, the covers were custom-fit for the ID.4 and sent out to owners. On their mission to show how Electric Feels Good, Volkswagen Canada has introduced an all electric reimagining of the iconic VW microbus, and more. This newest initiative is their way of showing that even EV accessories can feel good too.
