plazaVea: The Kimberly Price
Kimberly García is Peru’s top athlete, but racewalking isn’t a widely followed sport in the country. At Paris 2024, her competition was scheduled for 9:20 a.m. local time, meaning Peruvians had to wake up at 2:20 a.m. due to the time difference.
To draw attention to Kimberly, PlazaVea, her official sponsor and a supporter of trailblazing women, launched The Kimberly Price. Selected TVs, smartphones, and refrigerators were priced to match Kimberly’s competition number. To discover the number—and access the offer—people had to wake up at 2:20 a.m. and watch her compete live. The result? We got an entire country to rise before dawn to cheer her on and celebrate a sport they’d never paid attention to before.
