National Library of Israel: Kafka: The Metamorphosis of a Writer

Kafka: The Metamorphosis of a Writer – A New Exhibition at the National Library of Israel.
Franz Kafka, perhaps the most famous literary figure that most people don’t truly know. So how do you spark curiosity?
How do you make someone who passed away 100 years ago accessible to a diverse Israeli audience? Here’s the story:
We traveled to Jerusalem for the exhibition launch event, arriving at the iconic and stunning National Library building.
After a brief ceremony inaugurating the exhibition, we stepped inside. I enjoy wandering through exhibitions without a defined path or logic,
letting the content draw me in and absorbing it all. Upon exiting the exhibition, it hit me... I saw the campaign within the exhibition.
One quote, prominently displayed and chosen by the curator, caught my attention mainly because of its style, it felt out of place and time:
"A married friend is no friend" This sentence was said in 1914? By Franz Kafka?
It’s funny, even insightful, and could easily have been written by a Tel Aviv stand-up comedian.
From there, it evolved into selecting more of Kafka’s sayings, which are as topical and relevant today, perhaps even more so than they were back then.
