Coke Zero: Happy KingdomTop 6: November 18th 2009
Pete Candeland has directed a 60 second CG extravaganza with a medieval theme for the Coke Zero brand. The agency was Ogilvy Argentina and executive creative director was Gaston Bigio. Pete and Passion Pictures’ creative challenge for the 60 second spot was to create a cool Coke Zero kingdom mixing medieval styling with a Rock ‘n Roll flavour. The spot opens on a dull, dark kingdom with the king being carried through his city by guards. Our hero approaches with his friends and offers the king a Coke Zero. The king is delighted and takes a giant gulp. He leans back so far that his crown falls onto the head of the court jester, making him the new king. The whole kingdom is then transformed into a fun, crazy party where everyone is celebrating the crowning of a new king. The spot took some 16 weeks to produce with a crew of nearly 40 animators, designers and compositors, the crowd scenes presenting a particularly tough technical challenge. The animation was done using XSI, Nuke and After FX.
