Telstra: Telstra Mobile Masterpiece
To celebrate the sponsorship of the new TROPFEST category, Telstra Mobile Masterpieces, Telstra, via BWM Sydney, has created its own 'Masterpiece' starring TROPFEST founder, John Polson. Filmed on 30 mobiles simultaneously, the clip shows Polson discussing the potential and opportunities this new category presents to filmmakers.
TROPFEST is the world's largest short film festival and is renowned for providing unique platforms for emerging filmmakers. The winning entry at the inaugural 2008 NY awards was 'Mankind is No Island', and was filmed entirely on a mobile phone at a total cost of $59. "The Telstra Mobile Masterpieces mobile film category provides filmmakers with another opportunity to tell their stories through the art of filmmaking. By including a mobile category in Tropfest, we are recognising this emerging art form and are looking forward to seeing how filmmakers continue to take up the challenge of making films on mobile phones," explains John Polson. Polson's delivery was filmed by budding film and television students in LA. The agency purposely used young filmmakers to demonstrate this new, highly cost-effective filmmaking medium and to illustrate the point that anyone can create a TROPFEST film - all you need is a story to tell.
