Leo Burnett Melbourne has created two TV spots for British Paints that leverage the iconic Rolf Harris 'Sure Can!' tin tap from the 1970s and 80s.
The new campaign repositions British Paints as a quality paint that’s more affordable than premium brands, and uses ‘bloke’s jokes’ to appeal to the fairly male dominated world of painters. The tin tap has also been freshened up, contemporised as drum roll to reveal a freshly painted room for the first time. Says Leo Burnett Melbourne ECD Jason Williams: “The paint category can be fairly tough at times, but this campaign has a fresh tone that will appeal to a broad audience of home renovators. The older demographic will recognise the Rolf Harris reference, while younger people will relate with the humour in each situation.”
